What is Catalyst?

It’s amazing how much time and thought goes into a name. One of the greatest challenges to starting my new business was coming up with a name that captured the emotion of what I hoped to build. All of the education, practical knowledge, experience and advice of others at that point in time were useless. Then, one day, it popped into my head. Just like that

Catalyst

The perfect word to describe my vision:

A place where people can grow and change

Positive energy

Helping people through a period in life where they just feel stuck

Moving forward

Dictionary.com defines a catalyst as “a person or thing that precipitates an event or change.” Many months ago I found myself in a place where I just felt stuck. I was busy in my clinical practice, involved professionally, and running a large physical therapy practice. From the outside it appeared I was headed down the road to success. I was happy. My career was moving forward. I had employees and people to mentor and recognition in the community. In spite of my drive, I was lacking energy and passion. Some days I felt like I was just going through the motions. I left my office feeling drained.

So, I decided to do something about it. I got help from an amazing business / life coach. I dug deep and started on a path of self-discovery. I learned what values are truly important to me:

Integrity

Authenticity

Empathy

Excellence

I wanted to lead by example, and my situation at the time was not allowing me to live by these values. I decided that change was necessary. I stayed true to myself and my vision and used this experience as my catalyst.

I know what it feels like to be stuck, to feel like things can never change, like you are in a circular pattern that just keeps going around and around. Sometimes it’s easy to find the person or thing to break that cycle. Other times, it takes someone stepping in to help. That is the origin of Catalyst Physical Therapy. Whether you feel stuck, or you just want help getting to that next stage, Catalyst is here for you. We will be by your side, guiding you and staying with you until you have achieved whatever goal you have in mind.

Everyone’s journey is different. Deciding to make a fresh start was a part of mine. Living these values every day, I am ready to help you along yours.
