Thoughts from a new Swiftie (stick with me on this one)

Like many people these days, I have been spending a lot of time listening to Taylor Swift. Always a fan of her music, I have been admittedly consumed by her relationship with Travis Kelce.
Music + Football = Happy Blair
This has led me down the time sucking rabbit hole of studying her life and lyrics. I have spent more hours than I care to admit on X and Tik Tok, overanalyzing every song and the underlying meanings. Texting my friends about her new album and how we expect to cry. And all the AFC Championship videos (swoon)... Ok, I hope I haven’t lost you. Without digressing further from my point, I will bring it back to physical therapy and real life, outside this parasocial relationship. I have learned a lot from Taylor, who is clearly a master of her craft AND her brand. In turn, this has led me to reflect on my own business.
How often do you think about word choice? Whether it’s what you see, what you read or what you speak, how often are you paying attention to the carefully curated messages around you? Do words matter? If you are a Swiftie, you would say 100% yes. The words we choose have intention. I chose the name Catalyst Physical Therapy for my business because the word Catalyst reflects exactly how I want to show up for my patients, and the role I believe we should play in our patients’ rehabilitation. You can read more about that here. When someone reads the word Catalyst, I want them to think the following:
- Change Agent
- Support System
- Mentor
- Companion
- Motivator
- Igniter
A Catalyst is someone who stands by you and helps you do the thing. A Catalyst makes sure you have a positive change, with no influence on itself. A Catalyst helps you become a better version of yourself - that’s right - leave better than how you came. That’s pretty transformative.
When you walk into Catalyst Physical Therapy you know you are in for a transformative experience. We support you. We give you the tools to thrive. We teach you how to take care of you, and make sure you understand not only the short term wins but the long term benefits. And that is the difference.
The next time you are choosing a provider - whether it’s for health care or something else entirely, look at the name. Ask yourself what vibes it gives off, if it sounds like something that fits with who you are or what you hope to accomplish. Choose what feels right for you.
